Coed Basketball

Basketball is back! SFX Youth Sports is proud to announce that we are offering basketball clinics and a competitive, in-house league basketball program during the 2017-18 school year. We will also offer an option for more advanced players to join a team which will compete in a more competitive league in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Fall Skills Clinics

REGISTER NOW for our Fall Skills Clinics! Our Fall Skills Clinics are designed to introduce basic basketball skills (ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, body position) that will build an early comfort with the game and a solid foundation for future skills development. As with all of our SFX programs, our focus is on learning and skill development, teaching children how to play the right way and have FUN! In these clinics, players will understand what to do on the court and how to build the teamwork necessary to move on to more competitive basketball over time.

Beginners Clinics

Our Beginners Clinics are co-ed, with children divided by age (6-7, 8-9). Our beginners clinics will have 8, 1-hour sessions, and will include warm-up time, skills development and a fun finish! Clinics will begin in mid-September, after the start of the public school year, and run through mid-November. Each clinic will meet once per week for 1 hour (between 6-8PM), and will be held at a gym in Park Slope.

Players should come to the clinics in shorts and t-shirts and must wear sneakers.

Advanced Skills Clinics

Our Advanced Skills Clinics are for more experienced players (ages 10-12). These clinics are intended for children who have played basketball before and who intend to play in our competitive winter league. The clinics will be held once per week, for 90 minutes, at a gym in Park Slope.

Players should come to the clinics in shorts and t-shirts and must wear sneakers.

Winter Basketball League

Our Winter League offers children ages 7-14 quality, weekly instruction plus competitive game play, culminating in a playoff tournament.

This year, we will have an “in-house” league, with games between SFX teams. The league will be organized by age (teams for 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 year-olds). Team assignments will be done in late November, and teams can begin practices at a gym in Park Slope, and games will run from December through March. As with our other SFX programs, teams will have parent volunteer coaches. Groups of players who want to play together should indicate all of the players’ names when registering, along with the name of any requested coaches.

Families of more advanced players who are interested in playing on a team in a more competitive league should contact Perry Solomon at for details on registration.
