Coed Basketball

Basketball is back! SFX Youth Sports is proud to announce that we are offering basketball clinics and a competitive league basketball program during the 2016-17 school year.

Fall Skills Clinics

Register now for our Fall Skills Clinics! Our Fall Skills Clinics are designed to introduce basic basketball skills (ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, body position) that will build an early comfort with the game and a solid foundation for future skills development. As with all of our SFX programs, our focus is on learning and skill development, teaching children how to play the right way and have FUN! In these clinics, players will understand what to do on the court and how to build the teamwork necessary to move on to more competitive basketball over time.

We will also be offering a Winter Skills Clinics, with registration opening in late September.

Beginners Clinics

Our Beginners Clinics are coed, with children divided by age (6-7, 8-9). Our beginners clinics will have 8 one-hour sessions, and will include warm-up time, skills development and a fun finish! Clinics will begin the week of September 26 through early December, and will be held in late afternoon/early evening at a gym in Park Slope.

Players should come to the clinics in shorts and T-shirts and must wear sneakers.

Advanced Skills Clinics

Our Advanced Skills Clinic is for more experienced players (ages 10-12). The clinic will be held on Wednesday evenings, from 6:00-7:30PM, and will begin the week of September 26. The Advanced Skills Clinic will be taught by Brian “BG” Gardenhire, an experienced college and pro player, with extensive experience in coaching youth and adult players.

Winter League

Our Winter League offers children ages 9-14 quality, weekly instruction plus the opportunity to show off their skills and teamwork by competing against teams in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Our season will begin in November, with weekly practices held at a gym in Park Slope, and games will run from December through March. As with our other SFX programs, teams will have parent volunteer coaches, plus weekly instruction from skilled coaches with college-level playing and coaching experience. Groups of players who want to play together should indicate all of the players’ names when registering, along with the name of any requested coaches.

Registration for our Winter League will begin in late September.
