Registration is OPEN for the SFX Basketball 2024-25 Winter Basketball League!

REGISTER HERE

Our Winter Basketball League is a recreational league, for children ages 7-17, and we welcome players of all skill levels and experience.

Our season will begin in December and run through the end of March. We will release the opening day, game and proactive schedule, team assignments.

Our Co-Ed program will have the following divisions:

  • Rookie Co-Ed (ages 7-8)
  • Novice Co-Ed (ages 9-10)
  • Bantam Co-Ed (ages 11-12)
  • Juniors Co-Ed (ages 13-14)
  • Seniors Co-Ed (ages 15-17)

Our Girls program will have the following divisions:

  • Rookie Girls (ages 7-8)
  • Novice Girls (ages 9-10)
  • Bantam Girls (ages 11-13)

The age cutoff for all divisions is as of December 1, 2024.

Girls who would like to play in both the Girls and Co-Ed programs may do so by registering for each separately.

We need coaches and volunteers! Please sign up to coach (either as a head or assistant coach) and we also need volunteers to help with gym set-up and clean-up.  Our basketball program, as with all SFX Youth Sports programs, is entirely volunteer-run, so please sign up to help make this a great season for your children.

If you have any questions about volunteering to coach or to register your child as a player, please contact Perry Solomon, SFX Basketball Coordinator, at perry@sfxys.com.

If you would like to volunteer to coach in our Girls’ division, please register as a coach and contact Melissa Dimas at melissa.dimas@gmail.com.

When you register, you can indicate whether you would like for your child to play with specific friends and/or a coach. For our Winter League, we DO NOT hold tryouts and players of all abilities are welcome. If your child has played with SFX Basketball in the past and you want to request to be assigned to the same team or coach, please indicate this when you register. We will do our best to honor requests to be placed with a coach or friend, but may need to re-assign players for competitive balance once the season begins. Also, we do not hold spaces on teams or in the league, so once we are full, we can’t place your child on a team.

When you register your child as a player and/or yourself as a coach, assistant coach or parent volunteer, you agree to follow the SFX Code of Conduct, the SFX Youth Sports Principles and the Parent/Guardian Expectations. If you or any guests you bring to any SFX Youth Sports activity demonstrate any behavior inconsistent with the Parent/Guardian Expectations, this will lead to disciplinary action, WHICH MAY INCLUDE YOU AND/OR YOUR CHILD(REN) BEING REMOVED FROM THE PROGRAM. PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE REGISTERING – THIS COVERS INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER PLAYERS, COACHES AND REFEREES – THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ANY VIOLATION OF THESE EXPECTATIONS.

We will host a special coaches training session, hosted by the NBA, on Monday, December 2 from 5-6PM and 6-7PM (you can attend one session – each will cover the same material).

We schedule games on Saturdays and Sundays (typically 1 game per weekend) at gyms in Park Slope, Prospect Heights and surrounding areas. However, to accommodate all interested players, we may schedule weeknight games. These games would start no earlier than 5:30PM and end by 8PM. When you register, please be aware that your child may have games on a weeknight during the season.

Please also be aware that we will likely schedule games over the NYC public school February break (but not Presidents’ Weekend) and the private school March spring break. We will not be able to accommodate requests to reschedule games during these periods.

Subject to space, teams may have the option to practice weeknights, with the exact date/time determined by the coach once teams are assigned. Even if your child can’t attend a weeknight practice, it is fine to sign up for the league and play the games.
