Girls Softball

SFX offers girls softball programs in the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons for players ages 5-15.  No experience is necessary for the Rookie division, and all divisions focus on building fundamental skills and teamwork. Schedules and fields are maintained by Prospect Park Baseball Association (PPBA) and SFX Youth Sports. All divisions (except Rookie) play in Prospect Park and/or neighboring fields.

Rookie Division (Ages 5-8)

The Rookie division is a girls softball clinic division, intended as an introduction to the game. No experience is necessary. The game will be played according to modified rules intended to help girls learn the game. All games are played on Saturday at the Dean St. Playground (located on Dean St. between 6th Ave & Carlton Avenue). Each game plus a pre-game practice will last 2 hours.
Girls in the Rookie division must provide and wear black softball pants. A shirt, cap/visor and all equipment will be provided.

Mustang Division (Ages 9-10)

Mustang division games are held in Prospect Park and neighboring fields, on a field with a 50-foot base-path and pitching distance of 28 feet.
Girls in the Mustang division must provide and wear black softball pants. Each game last approximately 2 hours.  All teams will have practice once per week at a time and place chosen by the head coach.  A shirt, cap/visor and all equipment will be provided.

Bronco Division (Ages 11-12)

Bronco division games are held in Prospect Park and neighboring fields, on a field with a 60-foot base-path and pitching distance of 35 feet.  Each game last approximately 2 hours.  All teams will have practice once per week at a time and place chosen by the head coach.
Girls in the Bronco division must provide and wear black softball pants. A shirt, cap/visor and all equipment will be provided.

Colt Division (Ages 13-15)

Colt division games are are held in Prospect Park and neighboring fields, on a field with a 60-foot base-path and pitching distance of 40 feet.  Each game last approximately 2 hours.  All teams will have practice once per week at a time and place chosen by the head coach.
Girls in the Colt division must provide and wear black softball pants. A shirt, cap/visor and all equipment will be provided.
